Industry leaders met in person for GS1 Connect 2022 in San Diego.
Hundreds of industry partners reconnected at GS1 Connect Adapt 2022 in San Diego, June 7-9. The meeting in San Diego was the first in-person GS1 Connect conference since 2019, and you could feel the energy in the air. Industry partners were ready to learn, collaborate, and share.
The theme of this year’s conference was “Adapt,” and sessions focused on regulatory, better supply chain visibility, technology-enabled traceability, and digitizing your business.
The Foodservice and Retail Grocery tracks hosted 14 live sessions, many focusing on FSMA 204 and traceability. Including “Can Food Traceability Change the World,” presented by Thomas Burke from Chipotle, and a panel discussion, “The Magic of RFID: Capture Value-Added Data by Waving a Wand,” with representatives from GS1 US, Chipotle, McDonald’s, and Wendy’s QSCC.
Bob Carpenter, President and CEO of GS1 US, presented the keynote, “Where Do We Go From Here? Three Dimensions of Adaptability”. He shared trends, insights, and strategies, highlighting how GS1 Standards help companies adapt to solve supply chain business challenges.
The keynote explored the three pillars of adaptability:
- Understanding what we can’t control
- Changing what we can control, and
- Collaborating to strengthen all links
The keynote also focused on mastering data to use emerging technologies such as RFID, AI, and robotics, which are being explored across supply chains from food to healthcare. Another highlight was Sunrise 2027, which uses 2D barcodes on consumer units and at the point of sale. This will enable the barcode to carry much more information for consumers and trading partners.
FoodLogiQ was very active at the event, with Katy Jones, CEO, and Todd Dolinsky, CPO, attending the Executive Leadership Committee meetings for Foodservice and Grocery. Julie McGill and Michael Muraca engaged with FoodLogiQ customers, industry partners, and GS1 US staff at the Joint Foodservice and Grocery Initiative Member meeting.
FoodLogiQ was proud to see many of our partners presenting in sessions and hosting trading partner roundtables. Our community owners and supplier partners collaborated with industry leaders, sharing how they utilize FoodLogiQ Connect to enhance business efficiencies and enable end-to-end supply chain visibility, which is front of mind in the food industry today.
